FEBRUARY
The main news in York this month is of course the Viking festival.
The whole week runs from Fri 14th to Sun 23rd with the main battle re-enactment happening on Sat 22nd at the eye of York, near Clifford's tower at 3pm. Earlier on that day you can see the soldiers warming up in the museum gardens at 11am and there is a living history event running all week in St Mary's church, Coppergate. Also look out for events in St Sampson's Square on Saturdays.
There are various craft markets around the city, the main ones being at the Merchant adventurer's and Barley Hall.
The end of February is also the expected launch date for an exciting product. A company called "a stroll back in time", who produce audio tour c.d's and MP3 players, are about to move into York. They are currently working their way through England's heritage city's though I am sure that York will be the best. The launch is due to go ahead at Barley Hall though it may be put back until early March. Whenever it appears, be sure to grab yourselves a copy and experience another side of York.
There is of course still much pressure to stop the building of the Coppergate shopping centre extension next to Clifford's tower and I urge you to click here to visit their site and support the campaign.
That's about it for February, sorry there's not much happening, apart from having the most fantastic city in all of England to look around.
Thank-you for reading and please come back next month.
